Ladies Night
Out 2016

(library fundraiser)

Call the sitter,
Put the kids to bed
It’s time for the ladies,
To raise the dead

Bring money for your poison,
To slake your thirst
Wear a costume,
Or you’ll be cursed

Eat drink and be scary,
That’s how we roll
And on Thursday morning,
We’ll pay the toll!

Wed, October 12

This short novel was written in 1951 by American author Ernest Hemingway in Bimini, Bahamas and published in 1952.  The Old Man and the Sea was the last major work of fiction by Hemingway that was published during his lifetime.  It tells the story of Santiago, an aging fisherman, who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream, off the coast of Florida.  In 1953, The Old Man and the Sea was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.  Ernest Hemingway was award the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954.
